Join us for a night of explosive jazz, funk, and improv as Jim Godfrey and Emma Holbrook take over the bar at The Grapes!
The duo first met while playing with Bath legend Matt Owens (Noah and The Whale), and their chemistry is electric. With Emma’s pounding drums and Jim’s energetic piano stomp, this two-piece creates an unforgettable sound that blends intricate instrumental jazz, raw funk grooves, and unpredictable improvisation.
Jim Godfrey, a Bath-based pianist, composer, and producer, brings his experience from studying at the prestigious Berklee Jazz School in California, having played with artists like Billy Bragg, Robert Vincent, Mississippi Macdonald, and, of course, Matt Owens.
Emma Holbrook is one of the most in-demand drummers on the Bristol and South West jazz and rock scene, known for her work with Kathryn Williams, Michele Stodart (Magic Numbers), and folk legends Stick in the Wheel.
On the night, expect a mix of original compositions and music from Jim’s extensive solo work — a perfect blend of tight rhythms, improvisation, and fearless creativity. Come grab a drink and enjoy a night of lively, toe-tapping music, all for free!
