Lys Wild Shiatsu

4th November 2020 @ 8:30 am - 5:30 pm

Each Wednesday, starting March 18th 2020, Lys Wild will be running a Shiatsu Clinic in Pococks Living Room in hour and half hour sessions.

Lys became a reiki master in her 20’s and worked as a healer for a number of years in and around London. Concurrently to her healing journey, she developed her passion for yoga and travelled to India and Canada gaining her Amrit hatha and Contact Yoga qualifications.  Over a decade ago she discovered the magic of Traditional Chinese Medicine and went on to study at the Bristol School of Shiatsu and later did a post graduate with Bill Palmer in Movement Shiatsu. She travels extensively with her work across the Uk, in Denmark and Turkey and considers it an honour to share such rich healing journeys with her community of clients.

Shiatsu means finger pressure in Japanese and was developed after a Zen Buddhist monk was said to have taken the ideology of Traditional Chinese Medicine to Japan. It is a holistic and thorough form of bodywork where the client is fully clothed and the practitioner applies palm or finger pressure into specific acupuncture points and along so called meridian lines.

Movement Shiatsu was developed by Bill Palmer and allows for greater capacity to work with the fascia, connective tissue and joints with the underpinning of the Traditional Chinese Medicine system. Again a fully clothed therapy, with the practitioner applying similar finger pressure into acupuncture points, but with much more movement into the muscle, joints and fascia.  It is deeply relaxing and healing form and addresses many stress related health issues.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

Lys uses a combination of Movement Shiatsu and the more traditional forms of Shiatsu in her practice and is particularly interested in the role the kidney meridian plays in bone and joint pain and stress.
