Kitchen News

It’s all go here at The Grapes as the building work not only continues but we also race to get not one, but two kitchens finished in time for November.

Downstairs in the bar, Jonny James is putting together his final thoughts on his menu which will feature lots of tasty snacks, sharing plates and beer food using locally sourced ingredients.  We’re just getting the funds together to purchase what we need but the electrics are in, lighting is on – now it’s just a case of working out the extraction system, getting a fridge and a few other bits and pieces and we’re good to go.

Upstairs there have been some more sold out Izakaya Supper Clubs, which has led us and the Secret Izakaya Crew to get together to create the Budō Bā, which roughly translates as Grapes Bar in Japanese….which, drum roll please, will be a weekend Sake and Spirits bar and Japanese restaurant each Friday and Saturday night, starting from November 8th.

I know, exciting right.  You’ll know when the Izakaya is on when the lanterns shine in the window of Pococks Living Room but as the bookings are already coming thick and fast, I wouldn’t wait too long to get a taste of David’s cooking.  We have all the socials already, so if you want to book a space just send us a DM on Instagram or Twitter @BudoBaBath.

But what the hell is an Izakaya I hear you ask?  Well, it’s sort of the Japanese version of tapas….lots of tasty snacks and dishes designed to go with beer and oh my, those flavours are amazing.  David recently had a visit from several Bath bloggers who tried out his flavours, complete with Sake tastings between courses and you can read all about what they had to say by visiting the Pretty Little Bath and The Pig Guide blogs, though I have to say the lighting in the room has improved enormously since their visit….the seating not so much, but we’re getting there.

So there you have it.  Lots coming up on the culinary front at The Grapes and in the meantime, we have two Mexican Cantina Secreta coming up on October 19th and again on November 2nd for the Day of the Dead, though you may want to get dressed up for the latter 🙂

No booking necessary and you can find out more by visiting the Facebook event page.
